āš ļø FBI Warning: Predators Targeting Teens Online | An online network called ā€œ764ā€ is luring kids through platforms like Roblox and Discord, then coercing them into self-harm, violence, and exploitation. The FBI has 250+ open cases and calls it a domestic terror threat. Parents: monitor digital platforms, talk often, and act fast if your child’s behavior changes. This danger hides in plain sight.

šŸ•µļøā€ā™€ļø Siri Spying Payout | Apple is paying out $95 million over claims that Siri secretly recorded users without consent. If you owned a Siri-enabled device between 2014 and 2024, you might be owed up to $100. You can claim on the settlement site by July 2. Please take a minute to set up these privacy controls.

šŸŽ® GTA VI Delay | Grand Theft Auto VI won’t launch until May 2026. The last game sold $1B+ in three days, so expect this sequel to dominate news, group chats, and TikTok feeds. Parents: with graphic violence, sexual content, and risky online play, GTA is not for kids. Talk to your kids about limits, content filters, and online safety. Our conversation starters are a great place to start.

PROTECH ON THE ROAD
A Visit to the Digital Wellness Lab šŸ‘

Last week, Joshua and Melvin had the opportunity to visit our partners at the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children's Hospital. They sat down with Dr. Michael Rich (aka The Mediatrician) and Dr. Meredith Gansner—both authors, researchers, Boston Children’s clinicians, and Harvard Medical School educators—who are leading voices in understanding how screen time impacts kids.

They also interviewed several Harvard students about their personal relationships with technology—how it's shaped their habits, mental health, and daily lives.

Here are a few of their takeaways from the many conversations:

  • PRESENCE - Your presence as a parent in your child’s life is greater than any gift or opportunity you could give them.

  • FREE PLAY - Instead of more screen time, our kids need more free play. ā€œI would much rather fix a broken arm than a broken spirit.ā€ - Dr. Rich

  • BOREDOM - Today’s kids are facing a major deficit of boredom, a necessity for their development and natural curiosity. Some of the greatest ideas in history have come from innovators who had margin to think.

  • HOPE - Don’t give up. ā€œIt’s never too late to teach your kids how to use their devices responsibly.ā€ - Dr. Gansner
